When a Bookstore Closes, an Argument Ends – The New Yorker.
This is why I ALWAYS buy books from neighborhood bookstores or special order if something I want is not available. But what I really like about this is that Gopnik admits he doesn’t read all the books he buys. I don’t either, despite my intentions, but I feel that buying books is a kind of civic duty, especially books that are not on the best-seller lists, and especially books by small presses or lesser known (but wonderful) writers.
