A Vegetarian Holiday
I’m planning my holiday meals—basically Christmas Eve and Christmas Day—for a family gathering.
Christmas Eve will be a vegetarian red borscht adapted from NYTimes recipe with buttermilk corn bread from Crescent Dragonwagon recipe and a purchased buche de noel.
Christmas Day morning will be sour cream coffee cake, hot cocoa with Godiva chocolate liqueur and candy cane stirrers, and scrambled eggs.
Christms MidDay with additional guests will be sweet chili vegetarian cocktail meatballs and mac and cheese croquettes from Whole Foods along with a homemade mushroom parmesan tart from a NYTimes recipe.
Christmas Dinner will be back to just the family with a crimini mushroom roast from Whole Foods along with a brussels sprout tart (adapted from a NYTimes recipe for an endive tart), cranberry orange relish, macaroni and cheese, and roasted potatoes, with a dessert of Texas pecan fruitcake and assorted cookies.
